American Apparal

I LOVE American Apparal ads! They are always very simple, honest images, recognisable by the playful, sometimes sexual, poses, sport-luxe styling and lack of air-brushing. I want quite a simple photoshoot as most environemtally friendly products always seem to be photographed in a cliche hippy way amoungst nature. The simple yet preppy approach to styling by American Apparal is something i would love to incorporate into my shoot as again, it creates a blank canvas for the jewellery to stand out.
Looking through some of my favourite ads shown above has given me the idea to possibly shoot at the local leisure centre - something which will hopefully be possible as i am employed in the cafe there!
The squash courts in particular would be ideal as they are large white rooms with red stripes along the wall which will give a subtle hint of colour and show that the model is in a sporty environment. The walls are also scuffed from squash balls so this will give a more grungy, imperfect look as opposed to a bright white studio shot.

Other possible locations: viewing gallery (regular structure of seats could look interesting, perhaps too over powering?) on gym equipment, in swimming pool, dance studio (photographer may be reflected in the mirrors!)...
Points to consider: find out about health and safety regulations and what time each area would be available to hire privatly...
Styling ideas: simple leotards, thigh high socks, gym bag, towel over the shoulder, carrying a racket or gym ball under the arm...
Although i am taking styling ideas from American Apparal, they never use accessorise so by layering on my paper jewellery the images will have a unique edge to them.
